NeuroStar TMS Treatment Process

STEP 1

Call TMS Center of Wisconsin (414) 257-0233 to schedule your consultation. We can usually see you as quickly as 2 business days.

STEP 2

The initial consultation with the doctor will discuss your concerns. We gather detailed information about your symptoms, your history, and your challenges. We use that information to determine if TMS is an appropriate treatment for you. At that time, you and your doctor will discuss the plan to move forward.

STEP 3

Once you and your doctor determine that TMS is the right treatment for you, we will contact your insurance company to obtain authorization for this treatment. Once authorization is approved, treatment sessions will be scheduled immediately. During the first treatment, we determine the optimal placement and strength of the magnetic field. (Customized for you)

STEP 4 ( Final Step )

Final Step: During treatment, we review progress in 4 different ways. We use trained clinicians’ assessments, your feedback, friends and family feedback, along with the results from the routine surveys during the treatment.

What to expect during the treatment

The magnetic pulses make a clicking sound and feel like a tapping on the scalp, but do not result in more than mild discomfort. If you wish, you can watch television or listen to music during the TMS session. Our staff members are trained therapists so talking with them is also an option.

What to expect after the treatment

You can drive and resume your normal activity. TMS is non-invasive, meaning it does not involve surgery, and has no systemic effects. Typical TMS side effects are transient and mild irritation or discomfort at the treatment site and headache.
